Making Jesus known.

This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come. Matthew 24:14 NASB

What Must I do to be Saved?

Because God desires that each of us would be restored to relationship with Him, he provided a very simple plan. However, our sinful nature makes it difficult to humbly accept the fact that God has done everything for us. If you are feeling convicted of your need to be saved, it is likely that the Holy Spirit is at work in your life.

TEST YOUR HEART

1.  Review the list below.

  • I believe that there is only ONE God with three distinct persons (Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit)

  • I believe that I have sinned (not lived up to the standard expected by my Creator)

  • I acknowledge that there is nothing that I can do to earn/deserve redemption

  • I accept that Jesus is the only way to be redeemed

  • I accept that Jesus’ sacrifice was complete and provided everything that was required for my redemption.

2.  Do you agree with each of the statements?

No, you have question(s)

If you question any of the statements, you are not ready to make a decision.  Seek help to understand the information that troubled you.

  • You can ask the Holy Spirit to help you to understand.

  • You can find a believer who can answer your questions.

  • You can contact us by using our Contact Us form and we’ll be happy to talk with you.

Yes, you agree

Congratulations, it sounds like you are ready to make a decision.  Get away to somewhere private and pray - out loud [1] - something like the prayer below.  The words are not magic, it’s the state of your heart as you pray them that matters.

Heavenly Father,

I recognize that I am a sinner and have fallen short of your expectations for my life.

I believe that there is nothing I can do to fix myself and I accept Jesus’ sacrifice on my behalf as payment for my sins; past, present and future.

I thank you for making me a new creation and giving me your Holy Spirit as a guide and counselor to help me live a redeemed life.

I ask this in Jesus’ name,

Amen.

3.  Welcome to the Kingdom

If you meant the words that you said, you can believe that you are now a new creation, a redeemed child of the Creator of the universe, a resident of the Kingdom of God.  You may feel no different or you may be filled with energy and raring to tell the world.

NEXT STEPS

Prepare for the Battle

The fact that you decided for God means that Satan and his forces lost another battle.  However, they won't give up.  Instead, they will try to convince you that nothing has changed, and it was all a lie.  Remind them that Jesus had already defeated them and they have no power.

Share Your Decision

As soon as possible, tell someone about your decision.  If you know another believer, tell them. If you don’t, we’d love to hear from you.

Embrace your Guide

You are used to living alone but you now have the Holy Spirit living inside you. As you go on with your life, listen for a prompting to see things differently – you may just think it is your conscience but that is one way the Spirit works.

Connect with other Believers

If you are not currently involved in a religion or belong to a church, find a church whose beliefs match the list above.

If you are currently involved in a religion, how different are the beliefs of that religion from those listed above?

  • If significantly different - You should not return to that religion.  You should find a church whose beliefs match the list above.  Be aware that people you know in that religion may not be happy about your decision.  Your decision will be offensive to them and they may be unkind.  You will want to help them understand your decision, but you are spiritually just an infant.  You will serve them better to walk away, grow in your faith and then come back and share with them.

  • If NOT significantly different - Ask the Lord whether you should leave or stay.  Stay until you receive a prompting to leave. God may keep you there for a time.

Footnotes:

[1] I indicated that you should pray out loud because the person who led me to the Lord had me do that.  I remember that it took just a little more humility on my part to do that.  That was over 30 years ago and it is still a precious part of my memory of the moment.
